Once upon a time over 2 decades ago a website posted a picture, a workout and a short narrative. Sometimes about fitness or nutrition, other times about economics or classical music. On certain occasions there were links to other websites and as the tech emerged, so were links to mp4 files that reveled grainy videos of olympic lifting or gymnastics movements. Participants posted results of their workouts or opinions on the articles. These were the bunny hill days of the CrossFit snowball, a mittenful of years before the avalanche of the Games, 15,000 Affiliates, and Rogue Fitness success. Back then, it was an alpine mirage to find your picture on the Crossfit.com “mainpage” which has posted since 2001. Our first was a few months onto 2010 when a photo of a CrossFit Malibu member finally summited! Then after a few years we were featured somewhat regularly… then after a staff photographer started dropping by regularly- our presence on the Main Page did too. Enjoy this one of Thib Foulquier- a 8 year member- prepping for a burpee pull up a few years ago. I still love the texts alerting me to a new .com post… and it still feels like a privilege to be featured.
