This is a list of examples of limitations people have about their difficulties and capabilities relating to performance in the gym. Some of them I overheard this week and others people came up with today after the 7am workout.
“I’ll never be able to do double unders”
“I suck at chest to bar pull ups”
“Lifting weight that heavy is impossible”
“My mobility isn’t ever going to improve.”
“I can’t make it happen that many times each week:
“I am too (old, tall, short, uncoordinated, lazy, ADHD) to do that.”
Think it and it is yours. Ruminate on it and you bury it so deeply in your psyche and it can become so embedded that a full scale archeological expedition won’t be able to excavate it. Whether you say it loud enough for others to hear OR you simply repeat it in your own mind… it becomes the anchor that eventually drowns you.
