Always important to keep perspective on the goal. Hit records (check), finish first and maybe even beat your nemesis (check), look good doing it (check)… but each of these, in my personal opinion, are not PRIMARY goals to aim for- but they are merely progress points to jump from along the way. Sort of like stones in a river crossing, they serve as a pathway and short term benchmarks that come with accomplishing the bigger goal- which is getting to the other side. My PERSONAL “getting to the other side” comes in the form of being prepared for all physical, mental, emotional, logistical challenges that a re presented in front of me. The stepping stones that provide the pathway are things like: gaining muscles and losing fat, improving biometric health indicators, bouncing back from failures, rising to new challenges, responding and interacting with others with grace and respect, and becoming more resilient mentally and emotionally as the physical body becomes somewhat less reliable. This program provides the physical challenges and the coaching to get you to the other side WHILE taking you step by step across the river. Thanks for coming along on the journey.
Today is the first true heavy day of the year. And fun that this has a “compare to date” of only about a month ago. Let’s hit some PRs in this first week of the new year. Pull up your most recent series of 7×3 power cleans and bump up the volume AND the final heavy set of 3 for a 3RM PR.
