Thursday 190509 Push Press Volume

This past weekend Gaby completed the CrossFit Games Age Group Online Qualifier (AGOQ) designed at finding the fittest 10 athletes across teens and masters in each 5 year age bracket. This was comprised of 5 workouts to be completed over the weekend (YES, FIVE of them!) and then athletes were ranked, much like the Open, against the top 200 athletes in their category. Going into this round of Games qualifiers Gaby was in 55th place- improving her last year’s position of 72nd (201st in 2017, roughly 350th place in 2016th and around 750th place in 2015… is that progress over time or what!?).
After completing the 5 workouts she actually GAINED on her competitors moving up 9 slots to 46th place. This is great for a few reasons: she is competing against an even stronger field of women AND she did not repeat ANY of the workouts to get a better score. Her “one and done” approach meant that her ONLY trial at a particular WOD was being compared to others who might have done some of them multiple times. Remember that Burpee/Row workout that you did on Monday? You might not, because you probably are choosing to forget about it. AND guess what- Gaby beat you by a few minutes. She also placed 26th in the world, so don’t feel too badly!
