Wednesday 190220 Fifteen Rep Couplet

Yes it has been cold. Really cold. Especially considering that the weather inside the Hut is exactly what it is outside the Hut before 9am and after 4pm. Interestingly, during those cozy warm hours in the middle of the day we don’t have any group classes!

So what are you going to do when it is this damn cold during your 6am or 6pm class session? Easy: the same thing you do when you go skiing in Park City (you’re from Malibu- we KNOW you ski in Park City) and the same thing you do when you tailgate before those big games (you’re from Malibu, we KNOW you don’t tailgate). The answer is: layer it up.

DON’T wear a t-shirt under a thick sweatshirt and stroll in wearing shorts

DO wear a short sleeved shirt, a long sleeved shirt, a light fleece and THEN a heavier jacket or sweatshirt. Yes FOUR layers so that at each stage in your warm up you can peel off another article of clothing. (You know, it leaves them wanting more) On top of your shorts AND EVEN ON TOP OF YOUR LEGGINGS- you can and should wear sweat pants. The thicker and uglier the better. They will keep you warm and pull off easy. Better than keeping you warm- they will cause you to start sweating. That is THE sign you might be ready to pull off a layer- that sweat is accumulating on your skin. Then during a rest in the warm up- like you are loading your barbell or stretching out- you PUT THE HEAVY SWEATSHIRT back ON! Yes, retain the warmth.

Wish we could do more for you about those freezing cold barbells and pull up bars!

You KNOW it’s REALLY cold at the Hut when…
