Congrats to Pam, Dusty, and Cecily for yet another triathlon finish. Here are some post-race reflections from Pam and then Dusty/Cecily…
#3 is in the books!! (Pam did the Tri in August) 2:14:10 today. I am so excited. Waves were B-I-G but I got out in good shape. Was also able to run a solid 10min mile..which is the fastest yet. I had a goal of 2:20 with a super stretch goal of 2:15, & I cant believe I beat both. It is because I did front squats on Fri & heavy HPC’s on Wed!!!…. way to go Pam
Since competing in our first triathlon (CFM’s Point Dume Sprint) one year ago, both of us had been wanting to test our abilities at a longer distance. We trained for this essentially the way we train for all of our adventures: constantly varied functional movements performed at high intensity three to four days a week. We did no real bike or run training outside of CrossFit, and swam once or twice a week. We went into the race apprehensive due to the big swell, but both made it past the break easily and were able to settle into a steady pace for the duration of the swim. The bike and run were an exercise in pacing, trying to push without redlining too early. We both finished feeling great and with big smiles on our faces. Grateful for the beauty of our town, friends at CFM who encourage us to stay fit, and for new challenges. Way to go Breedings!
