This one is a bit of a Wildcard! In the best sense possible, really. I’ll explain. Met-con workouts that you have completed in the past are somewhat predictable in the sense that if you have done it before you have a bit of familiarity with the FEEL of the test. You know Fran, Cindy, or even repeated Games Open WODs… you have a compare-to time, etc. You have experienced the sensation of completing the work or getting as many rounds as you possibly can in a given time. Sure you’ve done rope climbs and DB thrusters in a WOD- just 2 weeks ago in fact. But not in a rep scheme remotely like this… not with this volume of climbs- not with this amount of “other stuff.” With these unfamiliar tests – it is often a productive practice to try and map out how long this will take. That mental activity may help actually get you through the test faster than if you didn’t try and make a plan. Just remember however, do not hold onto tightly to that plan once the workout has started. That’s why it’s called a wild card! with these unfamiliar tests – it is often a productive practice to try and map out how long this will take.
