You know how in a poker game, each player gets dealt a handful of cards? Imagine that is your BIRTH. You pop into the world and are given a genetic blueprint. In both scenarios… what IS, IS. Nothing you can do to change it. Those were simply “the cards you were dealt.”
In the poker game, the cards were randomly assigned (assuming the deck was shuffled correctly) and in the example of how you ended up here on planet Earth, your DNA was determined by the 2 humans that mixed their genetic material to create YOU. In both situations there was nothing that YOU did or did NOT do that determined what you were given (at least not in a Western, scientific manner of speaking!)
So there you are holding a bummer set of cards… along with a genetic pool dealt to you by parents who suffered from heart disease, cancer, and a host of other chronic disease factors that their parents passed along to them. In the poker game, you can’t always fold… and in LIFE you don’t even get a chance at another round. So you make a few decisions- some difficult ones perhaps that might even be the toughest ones you’ve ever made in your life. Then you work as hard as you can to make the best out of the situation. Clearly the” winningest” professional poker players are masters of transforming what they are given into Royal Flushes, Full Houses, and 4 of a Kinds. What are you do with the hand that you were dealt? THAT is up to you.
