A blast from the past CrossFit Malibu athlete profile circa April 14th 2013- alterations to the original post are in brackets
Dr Jo has a wide range of outdoor/active pursuits. She first tried out CrossFit Malibu [make that about 8 years ago!] when she, her sister and a friend were preparing for the Tough Mudder. The one in the San Bernardino Mountains on a Sunday in June where temperatures dropped below freezing- and coupled with the 7000-8000 feet of altitude- she actually had to use her ER physician experience to help out! Having grown up in Malibu, she is an avid surfer. She has been a part of the Malibu Triathlon for years, [has participated in the Point Dume Sprint Triathlon], does long distance cycling trips and tours [she recently rode her bike to San Diego], has hiked to Everest Base Camp with her mom, swims with the dolphins in Baja and prances with the penguins in Antarctica. [She recently bought a sprinter van which she will be converting as a remote/rural area assault vehicle passengered by dogs named Seven and Mr Bigs.] Before she became a doctor she spent lots of time in the woods as a wilderness EMT… living on sticks and berries ?
