Movement originated at the hip is the bodies most powerful expression. We see it in sport and everyday activity. The swing of a bat, club or racket are all dynamic hip openers- rapid and strong extension of the biggest joint in the body. There are also a family of movements that occur at this same point but move in the opposite direction- swinging an axe that connects with a log or driving a sledgehammer are both hip closers- powerful hip closers. Today’s WOD employs both of those movements- the KB swing is the opener, the scott up is the closer. Back and forth for 5 rounds.
Deadlift BBQ coming up on Friday afternoon, 5pm-7pm. Of course, the 1RM deadlift WOD happens in all Friday class sessions. The 5pm hour you can either lift heavy or eat food and watch others do so! Bring something to put on the grill for yourself… and if you like- something to share with others.
