Congrats to those CFM athletes who participated in the Malibu Triathlon events over the weekend. Eric H– a newcomer to the Hut who begins group classes this week- swims in the Saturday tri on a relay team that has been competing for many years. He did the full tri a few years back. Peter and Faith– completed their Classic distance on Sunday with Peter setting a PR by 7 minutes and Faith won her age group with a 2 minute PR.
Here is the part where I talk about Peter crushing his previous PR… with FAR LESS specialty training than EVER. And you all know his secret.
Shhhhhh. It is called C-R-O-S-S-F-I-T.
When Peter started training with us back in the summer of 2014- he had been roped into the Saturday- Olympic distance Malibu Triathlon. With a few weeks of triathlon specific training- mixed with roughly 1 day per week of CrossFit Malibu- he was ready to take on the tri and finish the distance. As the years have passed, Peter has increased his CrossFit Training days to about 4-5 per week… and as stated above- did not train with ANY distance work at all. Just CrossFit. And he set a personal record of 7 minutes.
And he is stronger in every way measurable that he was back in the summer of 2014. Congratulations Peter- keep coming back and putting in the work.
