Are you starting to notice a pattern here? Not the obvious pattern of posting a work out, a picture, and a short blog entry each evening. And I’m not talking about some type of pattern regarding how often we do strength work, running or rowing, calisthenics type movements, or hero/girl WODs. I’m talking about the fact that for the last couple of weeks our Monday workout has some sort of relevance to what we did on Friday. Rather than force you to go back and look at old blog post, allow me to elaborate here and now. Last Friday we did Isabel and today we do Grace. The previous Friday we did a five round set of Max repetitions of three movements and we repeated the template the following Monday. While not a Friday/Monday combo – the week that ended 2016 we did triples of heavy deadlifts and the following week repeated the same pattern with deficit deadlifts. I think it is productive and also fun to occasionally program pairs of workout that feed off each other. Similar movements, similar templates, and/or complementary patterns. You know, in the spirit of Bogart and Garbo, Starsky and Hutch, Rogers and Astaire. Just a “behind the scenes” thought bubble for you to get you thinking about how and why the programming comes together the way it does.
