Tuesday 161220 Three (1!) Rounder

Today’s three round workout has a slight twist. Instead of merely going three rounds for time and posting how long it took you… You will also post how long your first round took. This is an intentional incentive to try and get you to dig yourself into a hole on round one. Not that I’d like you to dig yourself a hole and completely bury yourself, but rather to encourage you then to climb back out. Pacing a workout might result in learning how to keep an even tempo and prevent a melt down – but going out too fast teaches important lessons on how to regain composure and finish in a respectable time. The lessons can only be learned in a ‘trial by fire’ manner. So you not only have permission to blow out around one- but you have direct orders to go out hard. You will be rewarded with a fast Round 1 posted on the chalkboard for everyone to see. You will also get an experiential lesson on how to get back on track and finish strong.

Remember a few years ago in the CrossFit games when the first workout was announced as a long distance row. It was actually the second workout that was a half marathon row for time. Do you recall that the actual first workout was the fastest person to row 2000m to kick off the 13.1 mile race? Defying all predictions, Jason Khalipa won both events! This is similar to a distance runner sprinting the 1st mile of a marathon in under four minutes and then going on to win the entire thing. That would certainly be an amazing feat. Today you have a chance to experience something similar.
