This kind of training is not easy. The coaches here know that you don’t simply show up and go through the motions and then go about your day- we TOTALLY understand how these workouts feel; and feel JUST LIKE YOU DO when we do them. Take DT for instance (oh, what a coincidence- that is what’s on the menu for today!), we have previous experiences with this Hero WOD. We have objective information about it like previous finishing times, personal bests along with how we scaled and went about it. That’s the factual stuff. The nuts and bolts. And then there’s the subjective info; the feelings, the struggle, the mindset and related factors. It is one thing to check a previous “compare to date,” head to class, warm up and then PR… But that’s NOT including the sense-memory associations of what you are going to have to do to set that new PR. Those visceral connections involving the feel of the barbell and the heaving of the chest. The mental chatter of the mind as you try and talk yourself into completing that fourth round of jerks unbroken… how you will handle the voice in your head that says, ” just put it down- it’s only a workout!” It’s more than a workout and the reward is more than just physical. And we, as coaches get it; which is why we have so much respect for YOU as our athletes. Have fun today and know that we understand that your “9 and a half minute exercise session” is SO much more than that! Thanks for your commitment
