Our athletes from lululemon are in a competition- of sorts- to complete as many workout sessions as they can each day over the last week of March. Many of them have completed up to four exercise sessions in a single day. How’s this sound to you: CrossFit at 7am, yoga at 10, an early afternoon pilates session followed by a return to the Hut for the 5pm specialty class. Among other things, these members are great at challenging themselves to do something different. And FOUR training sessions in a single day is certainly both challenging AND different. I find that by stepping up to challenges that are both physically and mentally demanding, I can get out of my comfort zone and that makes the “regular” difficulties of daily life that much easier to handle. Like when Mikko Salo once did a 1,000 burpees for time. He did NOT do it simply to see how fit he was or because it was an especially “good” way to train. He did it so that every time in the future he is faced with a WOD that contains 100 burpees he says to himself, “It is ONLY one hundred… so much easier than a thousand!” What you done recently to challenge yourself in this way?
