Monday 160222 E3M Back Squat, TTB, Dips

Welcome to Week 1 of the CrossFit Games Open- sign up HERE if you haven’t already, with a reminder that you need to choose CrossFit Malibu as your affiliate.   Also remember to get yourself on one of the CrossFit Malibu Intramural Teams that have been established.

The Open Announcement is on Thursday at 5pm- and during this hour for the next five weeks- the 5pm time slot at the Hut is set aside to gather with your intramural team and watch the announcement and then bear witness to some Games Athletes throw down with the weekly competition WOD- all on the big screen.  You earn points for your intramural team for attendance- as well as a earning a possible point for being the team to guess what the weekly WOD will be (closest wins!).

So during Games Open Season here is how the 5pm specialty classes will go:
Monday Strength class at 5pm
Tuesday Gymnastics skills and drills at 5pm
Wednesday Mobility Session at 5pm
Thursday Games Open Announcement at Intramural Team Gathering

On Friday during all WOD classes– the Games Open WOD will also be our workout-of-the-day. You can choose to do the Games WOD during any of these class sessions (7 and 9am, noon, 3 and 5pm) or wait and do the WOD on Saturday for our BIG EVENT between 8:30 and 10:30am. You will still be encouraged to attend Friday classes, help judge and cheer others doing the WOD, and also gain some insight about strategy, get a good warm up and preparatory session in before Saturday’s competition.

Monday’s WOD at 7 and 9am, 4 and 6pm
Midday Open Training WOD and Specialty Strength at 5pm
Every 3rd minute for 10 rounds of:
Back squat, 3 reps
5 toes to bar
5 ring dips
Post # of sets at heaviest load to chalkboard as well as notes on TTB and dips to journals.
