Yesterday a number of CrossFit Malibuites did the Malibu Triathlon classic distance: half mile swim, 18 mile bike and 4 mile run. This was not a new undertaking for any of us- as Peter, Kevin G, Nanette and I have all done triathlons before- but every race experience is unique and challenging in its own way… This time out the water temp was a perfectly warm and crystal clear 70+ degrees, there was not a bit of wind so the bike ride produced zero headwinds to fight against, but the air temp got quite warm by the time the run came around. All 4 CFMers finished strong… ask them how their individual days went when you see them tomorrow or in coming days.
On Sunday October 11th we will have a One-Off running of the Point Dume Sprint Triathlon that is open to any CFM athlete as well as their friends and family. The event is our own classic course that we have held twice over the past year, we will have lots of items to raffle (more details coming… they are good!), and the Sunday morning outing is $35. There will soon be a sign up sheet at the Hut. We already have about 9 athletes signed up and ready to go- including a group of students from Malibu Learning Academy- where Kolby teaching physical education. They will race the course as a group… an awesome test of fitness and team-building activity to start the school year off right! We look forward to having many of you repeat the course so you can compare your previous times and set a PR. We welcome newcomers as well! More info to come:)
