We have LOTs of outdoor workout space

Tuesday 150324 Sprint and Squat Cleans

This past Saturday we had a great hour-long mobility class at 8:45am.  We spent about 10-12 minutes warming up with some PVC technique drills on the snatch and overhead squat and then moved into positioning work for the squat- all setting the stage for the target area of the mobility work to come the hips, groin, hamstrings and all the general squat-related flesh and sinew.  Foam rollers and lacrosse balls spending time under tension with deep stretching and even deeper breathing.. lots of loosening up and tissue melting.  It was also the perfect time to talk about principles of training and life issues in general… A dash of Supple Leopard blended with Yin Yoga, a touch of deep thoughts with Jack Handey* and a sprinkle of The View.

An awesome way to start a relaxing weekend and/or end a physically demanding week.  Between the stresses of gym training and daily events of work and life in general- the body becomes the physical punching bag. These classes are BACK ON beginning April 2nd Thursday evenings at 5pm  (once the Open is over) AND just about every 3rd Saturday at 8:45am- pay attention to postings at the Hut and on the website.  When attendance increases- more sessions can be considered.

The intention is that you use this session AS your training for the day and NOT necessarily something to do before or after a WOD.  There is significant mobility work done in every daily WOD- and even if it is “only” for 5 minutes in each hour class… it is STILL enough for most days.

*To me, boxing is like a ballet, except there’s no music, no choreography, and the dancers hit each other.
